Still today, animals are being tested on for our feminine needs. Luckily, there are alternatives. You don’t need to support the brands that still insist on testing on helpless animals. I’ve provided you with an extensive list of brands you can try out that provide you with cruelty-free, as well as eco-friendly, options to use when that time of the month comes around. I also added a couple of bonuses that will help your monthly period a little more bearable. You will find pads, tampons, cups, and even period panties.

Cruelty-Free Period: Tampons & Pads
This is L matches each sale of a tampon, pad, or liner with a donation of an organic cotton pad to a girl in a developing country. Their pads and tampons are free of chlorine bleach, fragrances, pesticides, and dyes. This is L even provides you with condoms. All of their products are eco-friendly as well.
Cora also helps to provide pads to girls & women that live in places like India & Kenya who can’t afford pads. Their pads and tampons are 100% certified organic cotton. No fragrances, deodorants, polyester, and rayon. You can find Cora products at Target, as well as Amazon.
You can find Seventh Generation pads and tampons at many stores. Which include Target, Walmart, Amazon, or Walgreens. Their pads are chlorine free with no added fragrances or deodorants. They also have pantiliners.
Cruelty-Free Period: Hygiene Products
The Honey Pot provides you with hygiene products that will freshen you up during your time of the month. They also have some products for new mommies who just recently gave birth. Not only do they have hygiene products, but they also have pads and hygiene wipes. You can also get your own subscription box where you receive 1 pack of pads, 30 counts of wipes, & 1 bottle of hygiene wash for only $24.99. You can find Honey Pot products at Target and on Amazon as well.
Swipes Lovin Wipes are eco-friendly so they are flushable, biodegradable, and compostable. They are leaping bunny certified and made with pure water. They are also chlorine free. You can get the scented or unscented version. The scented version has a cucumber scent. You can find these wipes at Walgreens, Whole Foods, Target, and Walmart.
Sweetspot Labs has feminine wipes and wash. No sulfates, alcohol, parabens, phthalates, and glycerin. They even have travel sizes so you can carry them with you wherever you go! You can find their products at Ulta and Urban Outfitters, as well as their website.
Cruelty-Free: Reusable Pads, Underwear, and Cups
Luna Pads are unique, in my opinion. Their pads are reusable so you can just toss them in the wash when you are done with your monthly. You just place the pads on your panties and you snap them together where it folds. They come in different designs and colors as well. They also have period underwear that’s super comfortable and fits well with their reusable pads. If you aren’t into pads, they also have the diva cup that you insert. Diva cups don’t absorb as a tampon does. As your flowing, it drips into the cup and remains there till you take it out, clean it and insert again. You can also find hygiene products too.
Sckoon has reusable pads as well. Coming in a variety of different colors and designs. They are also eco-friendly. You can also find cups and if you aren’t sure as to how to insert it, they show you a tutorial on how to insert and remove.
A cool thing about reusable pads, you can actually fold them a certain way so they are easy to travel with and carry in your purse. Pink Daisy comes with different colors and designs as well. You can find Pink Daisy pads on Amazon and their website.
The DivaCup can be found at Whole Foods if you ever happen to be there and need a cruelty-free feminine product. They also have Diva wash that you can use to not only clean yourself but you can use it to clean your diva cup.
Lunette cups come in different colors and they also come with pouches to put your cups in to avoid getting germs on them (The DivaCup comes with pouches also). I’ve never tried cups so I can’t tell you if they work or not but I’ve asked my followers on Twitter and the ones that use the cups love them and haven’t had any problems!
Thinx has an assortment of period underwear. From thongs to boyshorts! They also have tampons but they are mostly known for their underwear. Super soft and breathable. They also come in different colors.

So Brandless is like an online grocery shop. They have everything from food, household items, beauty & personal care, and stationary. All of their products are cruelty-free including their pads, tampons, and pantiliners. They also have vegan food options. Their products are also affordable! Every product is $3! How is this possible? They cut out the middleman and ship directly to you. Meaning you don’t pay extra for the countless unnecessary steps between the supplier and a traditional retailer’s shelf.

I added Whole Foods because you can find several cruelty-free products for your feminine needs. I’ve already mentioned a few ones that you can find but you can also find Natracare and Azalea.
Cruelty-Free Period: A more bearable period
This is my favorite part. You can’t spend your entire period in tears from being emotional and in pain. You need something that will get you out of that funk and into a brighter mood so aren’t suffering. Cheesy chick flicks and chocolate always worked for me. I also asked my mom and sister what helps them get through their monthly. Icecream, movies, and Midol they said, LOL! So what gets you through your time of the month? Here, I’ve listed several ideas that you can use to help you out during your time.
Chocolate and Icecream-
Lindt Excellence Dark Chocolate-
The Lindt dark chocolate is vegan. In the 70%, 85%, 90%, and 99% cocoa varieties. You can find these on Amazon and in most stores.
Endangered Species Chocolate-
The endangered species brand is all vegan and they donate 10% of net profits to support wildlife conservation efforts. So you are helping an animal while enjoying a nice piece of chocolate. They have chocolate bars and bites. As of right now, they have 20 different chocolate bars of different flavors and each flavor has an animal on it showing you which animal you are helping save. In their bite-size options, they have 6 different flavors. You can get these chocolates on their website, Amazon, and even Target.
Rescue chocolate is also vegan, fairly traded, and organic. 100% of the net profits are donated to animal rescue organizations around the country. They have 7 different chocolate bars with their unique flavors. Each chocolate bar represents a different type of cause. Whether it be fostering dogs and cats, countering the negative public image of the pit bull-type dogs, or even helping with the no-kill movement!
Ben & Jerry’s Icecream-
Can’t forget Ben & Jerry’s vegan ice cream coming in all different flavors!
Hydration, Medicine, and Movies-
Of course, you need to stay hydrated so keep a water bottle nearby. Go for the eco-friendly, non-plastic water bottles!
As for the medicine and movies, it’s more of what you prefer. Everyone uses certain over the counter medicines or remedies to help soothe cramps and bloating. And for chick flicks that make you happy but also make you cry, what movies do you like? Here is a list of movies that I’ve seen and LOVE! (in no particular order)
• Me Before You
• The Notebook
• The Fault in Our Stars
• The Best of Me
• The Lucky One
• Safe Haven
• The Vow
• The Kissing Booth
• 10 Things I Hate About You
• Sweet Home Alabama
• Valentine’s Day
• No Strings Attached
• How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days
• A Walk To Remember
• The Ugly Truth
• Never Been Kissed
• Monster In Law
• Fever Pitch
• To All The Boy’s I’ve Loved Before
Clearly, I can keep going with this list LOL but these are some good movies that you should check out if you haven’t seen them! Hope you enjoyed this list and I hope it’s helpful to you in having a cruelty-free and bearable period!
